Quick answers for new Kinderballet families.

How do we get started?
Every child begins with an opportunity to try Kinderballet.
Our younger programs—Cherubs and Mummy & Me—begin with a three-class trial for $50, giving young children time to become familiar with the teacher, environment and class routine.
Children in our older programs begin with a single trial class. You only pay for this class if you decide to continue with Kinderballet.
How much do classes cost?
Our usual class fees are:
* Cherubs and Mummy & Me: $18 for a 30-minute class
* Tots and Next Steps: $21 for a 45-minute class
* Aspirants: $24 for a 60-minute class
Some locations may cost an additional $1–$2 per class because of higher venue costs.
There is also a $10 accident-insurance fee per family, per term—not per child.

What should my child wear?
Whatever helps them feel happy, comfortable and ready to move!
Children might wear a favourite dress-up or fairy dress, dancewear they already own, or simply a T-shirt and shorts. There is no compulsory Kinderballet uniform, and you don’t need to buy special clothing before getting started.
The important thing is that your child can move comfortably and feel like themselves.
What ages is Kinderballet for?
Our programs begin with Cherubs for children from approximately 18 months and continue through to Aspirants 4 for children up to 12 years old.
Each program is designed for a particular age and developmental stage, helping children progress in a way that feels appropriate and achievable.
Do parents stay in the room?
A parent or carer participates alongside their child in our Cherubs and Mummy & Me classes for children aged approximately 18 months to 3½ years.
In our older classes, children usually participate independently with their teacher. However, we understand that some children may need additional reassurance, medical support or assistance, particularly when they are getting started.
Kinderballet has an open-door policy. Parents can see their child through a window or viewing area, or the studio door is left open so they can check in during the class.
Is there an end-of-year concert?
Instead of a large end-of-year concert, Kinderballet holds a gentle, age-appropriate event called Presentation Day.
It usually takes place at the child’s regular venue and close to their normal class time. Children participate with their familiar teacher and classmates, in front of a small audience of family and special friends.
An all-inclusive Presentation Day fee covers the child’s costume and medal, with no separate tickets or additional rehearsals to purchase.
Aspirants Presentation Day works a little differently and includes a performance, an assessment class, costumes and a trophy. Full details and current prices are provided before families decide whether to participate.

Is Kinderballet for boys?
Yes. Kinderballet welcomes children of every gender.
Our teachers can adapt stories, imagery and activities to reflect the interests of the children in each class. Every child is encouraged to participate in a way that feels comfortable and enjoyable for them.
Can we start during the term?
Yes. Children can begin Kinderballet at almost any time during the year.
We generally don’t start new students:
* during the final week of a term, when many classes hold an Open Day or Watching Day; or
* during the final four weeks of the year, when children are preparing for Presentation Day.
Outside these times, we’ll be happy to help you find a suitable class and arrange a trial.
What happens if we miss a class?
If your child misses their regular class, they may be able to attend another suitable Kinderballet class as a make-up.
Make-up classes must be arranged with Kinderballet at least 24 hours beforehand. This allows us to confirm that there is space and add your child’s name, medical information and parent contact details to the class roll.
Availability and suitable alternatives may vary by location.

Are Kinderballet teachers qualified?
Kinderballet teachers are selected for their ballet knowledge, teaching experience and ability to work warmly and effectively with young children.
Every teacher completes Kinderballet’s specialised in-house training and must pass an assessment before leading classes independently. Teachers also attend ongoing training and are periodically reassessed.
This helps ensure that every class is safe, engaging, age-appropriate and consistent with the Kinderballet approach.
What is accident insurance?
Kinderballet provides accident-insurance cover for registered students whose accounts are up to date. Cover also extends to the adult participating with a child in Cherubs or Mummy & Me classes.
The fee is $10 per family, per term. If you have more than one child enrolled—or a child attending more than one class—you still pay the fee only once each term.
Kinderballet covers the cost of accident insurance while a child is completing their trial.

Is Mummy & Me only for Mums?
Not at all. Although the program is called Mummy & Me, a child can attend with any trusted, responsible adult.
We regularly welcome Mums, Dads, Grandparents, aunties, uncles, nannies and other carers. Only one adult can participate with each child during a class.
Do you offer a family discount?
Yes. Families with more than one child attending Kinderballet receive a 10% discount on the fees for each additional child, provided fees are paid on time.
The child with the highest class fee is charged at the regular rate. Each additional child from the same immediate family receives 10% off their usual term fees or Cherubs/Mummy & Me trial fee.
Why choose Kinderballet?
Kinderballet has specialised in teaching ballet to young children since 2006.
Our programs have been developed specifically around the way young children learn—not adapted from classes intended for older dancers. We combine the foundations of classical ballet with stories, imaginative play, specially created music and age-appropriate teaching.
Children can develop movement skills, confidence, creativity, social connection and emotional wellbeing without compulsory uniforms, intimidating expectations or the pressure of a large dance-school environment.
We aren’t preparing preschoolers for the dance world. We’re using the wonderful parts of dance to enrich their preschool world.
Loved by thousands of parents over 20 years.
